Bejeweled Blitz Gameplay FAQ

Ranks & Experience Points (XP)

What are Ranks and Experience Points?

You collect Experience Points with every game of Bejeweled Blitz. As you play and score more points, your accumulated Experience Points will let you achieve new Bejeweled Blitz Ranks. You can compare your Ranks and XP with your friends on the leaderboard.

Why am I starting at zero XP; I've been playing for a long time?!

If you haven't played since we started tracking Experience Points on Facebook, we don't have a way to tell what your Experience Points would have been from your past games. If you've been playing the PC version of Bejeweled Blitz, your Experience Point total will follow you over to Facebook. Points accumulated on Facebook and PC versions will be aggregated together.

This feature is new to the iPhone, so if that's how you usually play, you should notice your rank increasing!

If I have to quit a game early -- at 48 seconds for instance -- will I still get the XP I earned up to that point?

Alas, Experience Points are calculated at the end of each game, so if you leave early, you won't get any Points for that game.

Does XP affect my coin total or my high score?

XP does not directly affect your coin total or your weekly tournament leaderboard score, but by collecting enough XP to reach a new Rank, you earn bragging rights, cool titles, new Key Stone slots (at certain Ranks, to the possible total of three slots), and special Rank Rewards (premium Mystery Treasures!).

Why does my XP Reward look like it's actually subtracting from the XP I have?

In Bejeweled Blitz, we refer to XP in terms of how much you need before you gain a new Rank. Therefore, when you receive XP, you will note that the number displayed for XP in your stats or Game Over screen goes down--because the number is displaying how many points you must earn to reach the next Rank.  It's a countdown between Ranks, so the diminishing number means that you're actually making progress toward your next Rank Reward.

How many Rank Badges can I earn?

You'll earn new Rank Badges for the first 100 Ranks.

How many Ranks are there?

There are 181 Ranks with unique names. You can continue to earn higher Ranks after 181, but we ran out of cool names at that point.

Key Stones FAQ

Welcome to the next evolution of Bejeweled Blitz Key Stones!  The quests get deeper, the treasures richer, the rewards more rewarding!  Let's have a closer look:

Carry out Bejeweled Blitz quests!

The Key Stones present you with specific goals, which can help you narrow in on certain moves to make, focusing your gameplay.  When you know you need to make Flame Gems in particular, you may find your eyes increasingly drawn to those matches.  You may be about to realize a deeper level of skill than you thought you had!

Discover and develop new strategies!

Boosts and Rare Gems can also help you reach your goals when used correctly!  If you haven't been getting Blazing Speed to trigger on your own, save your Blazing Steed for use when you see the Blazing Speed Key Stone appear.  The Rare Gem's effects count toward your goal.

Unlock 3 Key Stone slots!

The first Key Stone slot is unlocked from the start (after completing the tutorial).  From your very first game, you have an extra challenge and the chance for an extra reward!

Once you reach Rank 5, you will unlock the second slot and have new, more challenging quests to complete.  The third slot carries the highest difficulty quests and unlocks at Rank 20.  Don't want to wait?  You can unlock the second and third slots at any time using Facebook credits.

Make lemonade!

We've all been there--we make a couple of weak moves, and suddenly the special gems that could clear a big section and bring in a new cascade are off in a corner, nowhere near any matchable pairs, and we're just hunting for a decent move while we watch the clock run out. Key Stones offer a way to make even your worst game an achievement!  Certain Key Stone quests will reward you for a low-scoring game.  Granted, you could *try* to score low (harder than it sounds), or you could just smile the next time you fail, knowing you secretly succeeded!

(On that note, we have taken measures to prevent "cheating" at certain types of quests; Key Stones don't reward you at all for abandoned games or games below a minimum score requirement.)

Bejeweled Blitz is now a different game all the time!

With up to three Key Stone slots regularly updating with new quests to fulfill, your game can change daily!  Each Key Stone has an expiration associated with it, so if one isn't to your liking, it will shortly be replaced with something new.  But if you complete the quest, you'll see a new one appear right away to offer you the next challenge!

Reap your rewards!

Key Stone Rewards are delivered to your Message Center for redemption whenever you're ready.  Rewards range from Mystery Treasures to XP that levels you up to Rare Gems you can save for use when you like!  Imagine having your own little hoard of Rare Gems that you can sit on like a dragon, laughing about how you used to have to wait for them to appear. And those boosts of XP will not only advance your Rank but bring you closer to the Grand Mystery Treasure you receive when you reach the next Rank, plus the Legendary Mystery Treasure waiting for you every 10 Ranks!

Rare Gems

Rare Gems are rare and beautiful gems which you can find and harvest by playing Bejeweled Blitz. Each Rare Gem has its own unique gameplay effect!

Moonstone:

The Moonstone splinters into three fragments and lands in your game board as a trio of Star Gems to start you off!  It's like Mystery Gem times three, without the mystery!

Cat's Eye:

After your Last Hurrah has rewarded you for any special gems you had left on the board, Snackers will appear with eyes ablaze to help you score even higher!  His multiplier is triple your final multiplier in the game, and each blast from his laser eyes is as powerful as a flame gem detonation!  Snackers will rescue a lackluster game or send a great one into the stratosphere!

Phoenix Prism:

The Phoenix Prism captures the light reflected from all the gems on the board, giving it a beautiful rainbow shine. Due to this unique interplay of light and color, the prisms are Wild Card gems, able to be swapped to any nearby pair of gems to create an intense chain reaction, each prism causing a diagonal line of gems to explode.

The Phoenix Prism comes in batches of six gems, but only one gem can shine at any given time! Once you match your first prism, you will see the next light up within moments. Match it quickly to bring out the third! If you don’t use all six within the minute available, don’t worry; you’ll see any remaining prisms working to jazz up your Last Hurrah.

Once all your prisms have burst, and your eyes have feasted on the dazzle of colors, the phoenix himself will appear! (Okay, it could be a girl phoenix; it’s impolite to ask and downright rude to check!) As he takes his final bow and is reborn, a shower of his own feathers falls around him. Whichever feather he catches in his beak will determine the coin bonus you receive on top of the coins already earned in the game.  These will automatically be added to your Coin balance.

Blazing Steed (NEW!):

When you harvest a Blazing Steed Gem, you will begin your next game with Blazing Speed, which causes gems to drop more quickly and turns every match into an explosion!  Blazing Speed usually lasts eight seconds, but this special opening lasts ten so you can start out with a bang, a blast, and a ba-boom!

But wait, there’s more.  Even after the initial Blazing Speed burst fades, the Blazing Steed continues to make his presence felt.  For the whole game, keep an eye on the Flame Gems you match—they’re bigger, better, blazing-er versions of their normal selves, taking out a larger area and earning more points.

Finally, when the clock runs out, a herd of fiery horses will stampede across your gameboard, scattering and detonating extra Flame Gems in a blaze of glory!

The Blazing Steed is our special gift to our devoted daily players!  While you can find it at random like other rare gems, you can also earn a free Blazing Steed every week through the simple act of completing your Daily Spin at least 5 times within a week.  You can use your free Daily Spins or speed up the process by purchasing extra spins.  Like other rare gems, you can also harvest them off your friends’ walls if they share them.

When you have earned your free Blazing Steed, you will notice that you have a new item in your Message Center (the number on the Message Center button indicates how many messages you have waiting).  To claim your free Blazing Steed, click on the "Message Center" button above the gameboard at the Bejeweled Blitz title screen.

Once you click on the “Claim and Play!” button in the Message Center, you must play the game right away to use your Blazing Steed, so make sure you don’t navigate away from the game page!

I bought a Rare Gem but I didn't get to use it; what happened?

Please note that the Rare Gem will only appear if you play again once you've chosen to harvest it. If you refresh your Web browser or browse to another page, the Rare Gem will vanish.

Boosts FAQ

Boosts are special power-ups that you can purchase using Coins. They each last for three games and you can use up to three Boosts at a time.

Mystery Gem: Gives you a special gem (flame gem, hypercube, etc.) at the start of each game.

Detonator: Detonates all special gems on the board, usable once per game.

Scrambler: Scrambles all gems on the board, usable twice per game.

Extra Time: Adds +5 seconds at the end of your game.

Multiplier: Puts a 2x Multiplier on the board at the start of the game

How do I choose my Boosts?

At the beginning of each game, you will see the Boost Select screen. From here you can see how many Boosts you have remaining from previous purchases, add or remove new Boosts, and add Coins if you don't have enough to use your selected Boosts.

Will my Boosts automatically refill when they're empty?

If your Boosts run out during a session of Bejeweled Blitz, by default they will automatically refill as long as you have enough Coins to pay for them. When you leave and start a new session your Boost selection will not auto-refill from a previous session (same thing if you switch to a different computer, user profile, or Facebook user account).

You can select whether or not you want Boosts to auto-refill on the Options screen. Just click the box to toggle auto-renew on or off.

How to play Bejeweled Blitz

In Bejeweled Blitz, your basic goal is to swap pairs of gems in order to create sets of three or more, just as in any other version of Bejeweled.  Since Blitz gives you only one minute, it's all about speed, strategy, and making the best moves in every moment to score as high as you can in a very short time and beat your friends to the top spot on the Leaderboard!

The board is an 8 x 8 grid of gems. When you swap gems to make sets of three or more, the matched gems disappear, allowing more gems to fall into place from above. Matches of 4 or more create powerful Special Gems.

Special Gems

Making matches of particular types converts gems into Special Gems.

Flame Gems are created by matching a set of four gems. Flame Gems explode when matched, destroying themselves along with all eight surrounding gems.
Hypercubes are created by making a line of five gems. Hypercubes can be matched to any adjacent gem regardless of color, and doing so destroys all gems of that color on the board. This is a great way to detonate a Multiplier Gem that is not near any sets of its own color!

Star Gems are created by making a T- or L-shaped match. Star Gems, when matched, destroy all gems along vertical and horizontal lines from their own position.

Multiplier Gems are created by clearing a dozen or more gems at the same time. Once you have a Multiplier Gem on the board, match it as quickly as possible to multiply your score for the rest of the game.  There are up to eight Multiplier Gems you can earn per game if you're fast enough with your matches!

Coin Gems appear only on yellow gems.  Their appearance is random, meaning that you cannot take any special action to generate them, but matching them helps you earn Coins for buying Boosts!

Cascades

When you make a match, new gems fall in from above. Sometimes those gems themselves match as soon as they land. This is a cascade, and it counts toward the original match. Cascades can stack; that is, a cascade can trigger another cascade, which can trigger another cascade, and so on.

Hints

To the left of the game board is a Hint button. Clicking it will indicate a match somewhere on the board. Clicking the Hint button costs you nothing other than time.

Daily Spin FAQ

We love our players, and the Daily Spin is one of the ways we show it!  Just by visiting Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook, you can win free Coins with no more effort than a single mouse-click.

How often can I spin?

You can play Daily Spin once for free per day. This free Daily Spin is reset at 10pm Pacific Standard Time.

You can also purchase additional spins immediately following your free spin by using Facebook Credits.  Simply click SPIN after your free Daily Spin!  If you already left that screen, just click on the button that says "Daily Spin" above the gameboard to pull up Daily Spin and click SPIN to purchase extra spins.

What's this new 5-Spin Bonus?

We've added a new feature to the Daily Spin to reward our players even more for coming back every day!  If you make at least five spins within the week (the Bejeweled Blitz week starts at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time on Tuesday), you will receive an exciting new Rare Gem that you can use for free!  Both free and paid Daily Spins count toward your weekly total to earn your free Blazing Steed Rare Gem!  There is a limit of one free Blazing Steed per player, per week.

How do I claim my Coins from my Daily Spin?

Your Coins are awarded automatically. Don't worry if you don't see the full animation or you accidentally close your browser window, our system will still award your Coins.

How do the extra bonuses work?

The Friend Bonus is based on how many of your friends are playing Bejeweled Blitz. The Friend Bonus gives you 100 Coins for each of your friends who play Bejeweled Blitz up to the maximum Friend Bonus of 5000. Your friends don't have to have a score for the week to count toward your Friend Bonus.

The Consecutive Day Bonus adds a cumulative bonus of 100 Coins to your Daily Spin for each consecutive day you play. The maximum Consecutive Day Bonus for a day is 700 Coins.

How do I share my winnings?

After you play Daily Spin, you can send bonus Coins to up to 10 friends by clicking on the Share button!  Only the top prizes give the option to give bonus Coins to your friends, and the number of bonus Coins depends on the amount awarded for your Daily Spin. The bonus Coins are available to your friends via their Message Center. The Coins that you share are not subtracted from your own Coins.

Why can't I see the Daily Spin?

The Daily Spin will appear automatically if you've played enough games to unlock it. If you've already played your Daily Spin, it won't appear again until the next time it's reset.

Can I play Daily Spin on the version I purchased for my PC?

The Daily Spin is currently available only through the Bejeweled Blitz page at Facebook.com.

Bejeweled Blitz General Information

Tell me more about the shiny new Bejeweled Blitz for iOS!

The new Bejeweled Blitz app is a free iTunes download to your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, and it comes with 50,000 free Bejeweled Blitz Coins to get you started!

Bejeweled Blitz for iOS is the all-new app that puts fewer screen taps than ever between you and your next minute of gem-swapping joy!  Okay, it's really just one or two taps fewer, but still, those are valuable seconds you can use to run your Daily Spin right there in the app!

What if I already have the original Bejeweled 2+Blitz app?

You will need to download the new app in order to play Bejeweled Blitz.  It won't replace the Bejeweled 2+Blitz app, and you can still choose to launch Bejeweled Blitz either through its own icon or through the Bejeweled 2 menu, but the new app must be installed.  It's essentially a free upgrade to the new version that's faster, prettier, and packed with great features, plus lots more to come!

When you next launch your Bejeweled 2+Blitz app, you will see that the "Play Bejeweled Blitz" icon invites you to "Get Bejeweled Blitz!"  Simply tap that icon to download the new app.

What features are included in this new Bejeweled Blitz for iOS app?

First of all, we've got plenty of updates already in the works, so if you don't see your favorite features listed below, don't worry.  We want to make this the ultimate Bejeweled Blitz app, so we'll keep adding and improving!  But for now, the game features include:

  • Daily Spin (yes, right there in the app!)
  • Sharing high scores and Rare Gems to Facebook
  • Offline mode (play with one free boost per game!)
  • Your first 50,000 Coins free!
  • Coins purchasing through iTunes for fast and easy reloads
  • Gorgeous graphics (even on the iPad)!!!

I can't see my Ranks, Levels, and Experience Points in the App!

The game is connecting to Facebook, so don't worry!, your Ranks, Levels, and XP are still accumulating and being recorded.  When you next visit Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook, you will see the updated Rank, Level, and XP you've earned while playing on iOS.  But rather than waste valuable screen space, we have decided to give you a full-screen game board on your device!

I can't seem to launch the new app through the original app!  What's wrong?

If your original Bejeweled 2+Blitz app has not been updated in recent months to the most current version, then it will not be compatible with the new app.  Since the original app has been removed from the App Store at this time, there is no way to update it.  You will still be able to launch the original app to play Bejeweled 2!  However, the new Bejeweled Blitz standalone app must be launched separately rather than through the Bejeweled 2+Blitz menu.

I can't rotate my game to landscape view!

For greater flexibility with future updates, we have at this time removed the landscape option from Bejeweled Blitz.  We may look into restoring it in the future, but there is no current plan in place to do so.

Who are the three new characters on my Leaderboard?

You may have noticed that three PopCap characters have joined the ranks of friends on your Bejeweled Blitz leaderboard.

You know him from Peggle, the headmaster by day and dashing superhero by night, the one, the only, Bjorn!
Don't be fooled by his toothy grin--Dr. Mojo is here to help!  He keeps the mojo flowing over in Zuma Blitz, and he's always got a kind word for a friend!
Zombie no hungry.  Promise.  Want friends, maybe more.  Sunday crosswords, walk in park.  Turn-offs include smoking and photosynthesis.

Why have these characters been added to the leaderboard?

You may have noticed that every week, you receive a bonus of Coins based on your Friend Score.  You may also have noticed that some of your friends haven't played during a given week, and so they have "No Score This Week" beside their names.  We decided to skew the odds in your favor by adding three PopCap characters to the board with scores that add to your Friend Score every week.

If you have at least 50 friends who play Bejeweled Blitz, and if none of your regular friends have scores below 25,000, then you may not even notice these characters.  They may just sit at the bottom of the list as friends number 51, 52, and 53.  But if you have fewer than 50 Bejeweled Blitz friends on your Leaderboard, then Bjorn, Dr. Mojo, and Zombie are here to help you out!

Solitaire Blitz Gameplay

How to Play Solitaire Blitz

The Basics

Solitaire Blitz starts with two full decks of cards being shuffled and dealt out to form seven stacks (totalling 67 cards), plus one draw pile (41 cards).  At the start of the game, the top card of the draw pile is turned over to form a build pile, and the clock starts.

You have one minute to move the cards from all 7 stacks onto the build pile(s).  Suits and colors don't matter, only the rank of the card.  You can play any card from a stack onto the build pile, as long as it’s exactly one higher or one lower than the card that’s already there.  Aces can be high or low, so they are playable on both Kings and Twos and form a bridge between those cards.  Jokers can play on anything.

At any time – but especially if you get stuck with no other legal moves – you can return to the draw pile to deal fresh cards onto the build pile(s).  Just be careful.  You can only go through the deck once, so it can easily run out.

The game ends when you run out of moves, run out of time, or win by clearing all the cards. No matter whether you win or lose the game, if you clear all of the cards from a stack, you get to pick up the treasure at the bottom of it.  Good luck!

Advanced Play

Beating the clock is the biggest challenge in Solitaire Blitz.  To earn extra time, clear the cards from every stack down to the depth of the next Time Line.

There are four Time Lines in each hand, and each one you uncover adds an extra 20 seconds to the clock.

Making long runs is critical for getting a good score in Solitaire Blitz.  A run refers to any two or more cards you play successfully in a row without drawing from the deck or attempting an "illegal" play.  Illegal plays occur when you click on a card that cannot be placed anywhere.  As the length of your run increases, each card scores a higher number of points than the one before.  As your run continues, every 10 cards earns you a permanent multiplier, heralded by one of the sign-carrying fish.  Even if you break your run, that multiplier lasts for the rest of the hand.

To start your game off strong and build up speed to get runs going, look for the Key Cards that unlock extra build piles.   Two Key Cards are randomly dealt into the stacks in every hand.  These Key Cards can be identified by a ribbon slipped over the bottom right edge of the cards.  Once played, the Key Card will unlock the next available build pile and deal a card onto it, giving you more potential moves.

When multiple build piles are available, a card played from the stacks goes left-to-right through the build piles, looking for a match.  If you have a card that could be played on more than one of the build piles, it will land on the first available from left-to-right.  There is no way to select which pile it lands on.  A Joker will always land on the first build pile.

Tips and Tricks

How do you get a high score in Solitaire Blitz?  Simple!  Play fast and make long runs!  But everyone approaches this goal a little differently.  Here are a few tips to consider:

  • Try to make the longest runs possible to get the highest score.  Before picking a card, look ahead to the second and third card you might play on it.  Sometimes, picking a different starting card can result in a longer run.  Of course, the “long run” strategy comes at the risk of taking too much time.
  • Try to play as quickly as possible, to beat the time limit and get the most bonus points at the end.  Some players imagine a metronome ticking away, and try to play cards as fast as it beats.  Others play in quick bursts.  While this strategy increases your risk of illegal plays, practicing at “playing fast” can help improve your game over time.
  • Aim for the Key Cards first, to maximize the number of options you have for the rest of the game.  You often find yourself with two or three alternative cards.  If one of them helps you uncover a Key Card, choose that card first.
  • Choose cards from deeper stacks over shallower ones and try not to empty any of your stacks too quickly.  This way, you have more options and won’t get stuck with one tall stack at the end.  Keeping the stacks “balanced” in this way not only gives you a better chance of clearing them, it also helps you uncover Time Lines.  Of course, this strategy comes at the risk of finding less treasure.
  • Collect rare items to get the most silver.  If you see a hint of that telltale glow in the dirt before the deal, aim for it instead of the other stacks.  It’s probably worth more silver, which will help you buy boosts in future games.

Silver and Energy FAQ

Silver

There are many treasures under the sea, from shells and crabs to pirate chests and royal regalia.  Recovering these treasures will earn you Silver, the standard currency of the seven seas.  The rarer the treasure, the more Silver it's worth!  Silver is what you need in order to buy boosts that will enhance your game.

Boosts help you win the game and/or get a higher score that you would have earned without them.  You have a chance to buy them before each hand.  Some boosts are better suited for beginners (like “Extra Time” which gives you another 30 seconds to play).  Others are better for strategic players (like “Run Finder” which gives you extra information about what’s underneath the top card).  See the Boosts FAQ to learn more about all the possibilities!

Energy

It takes Energy to dive for treasure!   You start with 5 units of Energy, and each hand consumes one.  Fortunately, as soon as you drop below the maximum, Energy begins to replenish.  In a few minutes, you’ll be back up to full.

To help each other out, you and your friends can send free Energy to each other, above and beyond the maximum.  Just click their names on the leaderboard to instantly send one unit of Energy per friend per hour.  Also, extra Energy is always available for purchase in the Shop.  Energy that you purchase or receive from friends goes into your “Energy Bank,” where it’s saved until you’re ready to use it.

Banked Energy

Using your banked energy is as simple as clicking Play just as you normally do!  There are no extra steps required.  If you have no more regular energy available, the next time you play, it will simply draw from your bank instead.

Levels and Decks in Solitaire Blitz

Fish are good omens in the world of Solitaire Blitz!   Each time you achieve a run of 10 cards in a row, a fish will appear, but you can also find them randomly as you play!  Whenever you see a fish dart out from behind a card, that heralds an increase in your Card Multiplier (e.g. from x3 to x4), which is applied to your score. Every fish you’ve ever seen adds to your Fish Meter, and finding fish causes you to "level up" over time.

When you level up, you get a bunch of Energy, which lets you play more hands. You’re also given a new deck of cards, selected randomly from this month’s list.

Each month, some new decks show up, and some old ones are retired. Once you collect ALL of the decks for a given month, you’ll get a big prize of silver when you level up instead of a deck of cards.

Over time, you’ll accumulate many different decks, and you can choose to play with whichever one suits your mood.  The decks you've earned will stay in your inventory from month to month.

Don't forget to check out the premium decks available for purchase in the Shop too!

Scoring in Solitaire Blitz

Many factors influence your score in Solitaire Blitz.

  1. Cards played – This is the simplest measure!  You get points for every card played onto a build pile, and each card's point value increases as your run continues.  A run occurs every time you are able to play multiple cards in a row without attempting an illegal move or playing from the draw pile.
  2. Cards left – You get points for every card left in the draw pile when you win.
  3. Time left – You get points for every second left on the clock when you win.
  4. Bonus time – When you clear a Time Line, if the bonus seconds from doing so would have advanced the clock past 1:00, those seconds are instead converted to points.
  5. Bursts of speed – You get points for playing 4 or more cards in very quick succession (very quick is measured in milliseconds!  It builds up to a frenzy, and after the fourth card played in a row at that speed, you get an extra 1000 points per card).
  6. Clearing a stack – You get points every time you clear a stack down to zero cards.
  7. Bonus moves – You get points for making certain unusual patterns of cards, such as:

Royal Family Bonus = The three build piles show a King, Queen and Jack at the same time.
Three Of A Kind Bonus = The three build piles show three cards of the same rank.
Up-Down Bonus = Play six or more cards in a row using just two ranks (e.g. 5-6-5-6-5-6).
Around the World Bonus = Play every card from Ace to King (or King to Ace) without changing direction or breaking the run.
Seven Seas Bonus = Play one card from each of the seven stacks, moving left to right.  This is a rare achievement to pull off, so don't forget to brag!

Any points earned in categories 1 or 2 are multiplied by your current Card Multiplier.  The Card Multiplier starts at x1 and goes up by one whenever you find a fish.  Some fish appear randomly, but you always get a fish when your run reaches 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60 cards.

Boosts in Solitaire Blitz

There are a great variety of game-enhancing boosts to choose from in Solitaire Blitz! Experiment with them, one at a time and in different combinations, and see which earn you the highest scores and the coolest treasures!  The boosts that are available for purchase slowly change over time.  Some new options are added, and others are retired.  If a favorite isn't available today, take the opportunity to try a new combo!

Boosts are purchased with Silver.

Bonus Fish: This boost starts your score multiplier off at x2!
Depth Charge: This boost plants two explosives in your stacks, allowing you to detonate four cards in a vertical blast.  At the start of the round, you will see which stacks the explosives are hidden within, and once you have uncovered them, you can click on them at any time to destroy a portion of the stack beneath!
Extra Cards: Adds 13 cards plus 1 Joker to the deck to keep you from running out of moves.  Recommended for use with Extra Time so you have a chance to get through all these extra cards!
Extra Jokers: Add two extra Jokers to your deck!
Extra Time: This boost is simple, yet elegant.  Who couldn't use another 30 seconds on the clock?
Key Magnet: To get all your build piles started earlier in the game, play with the Key Magnet boost!  It will draw all Keys toward the tops of the stacks so you can quickly open your second and third piles.
Mine: This boost is devastating to all face-up cards on your stacks!  At the start of the round, you'll see which stack conceals your Mine, and once you uncover it, you can click it at any time to explode all the face-up cards at once!  Very handy for clearing unplayable cards and reaching your next Time Line!
Run Finder: This boost marks runs of cards in the same stack so you can click with confidence!  If there are multiple playable cards in a row within the same stack, they'll be turned face-up to indicate that.
Spyglass: Highlights the deck immediately whenever there are no legal plays available to you on your stacks.  This boost will save you valuable seconds of considering possible moves!
Starrgh-Fish: Once you uncover this boost, click it to initiate an auto-play burst of the best possible moves on the board!  He'll play from the stacks where possible, draw from the deck if he must, aim for key cards if he can, and do his best to save Jokers for you, but best of all, he'll do it in a fraction of the time it would take you to choose your next play!
Starting Joker: Choose this boost to guarantee that your first card on the deck is playable!  The Joker matches when nothing else does.

Solitaire Blitz Glossary

Build Piles – The destination piles for the cards in your Stacks.  You start with just one build pile, but you can unlock two more as you play by finding Key Cards.

Boosts – Boosts are special powers you can use to earn a higher score and enhance your game.  They can give you extra time, extra cards, extra fish, extra jokers and more!  Try different Boosts, to find the ones that best suit your style of play.

Card Multiplier – The Card Multiplier affects all the points you earn from playing cards. Whenever you find a fish, that indicates the card multiplier has gone up by one (from x1 to x2, for example).  The maximum multiplier is x9.

Deck – Also sometimes referred to as the Draw Pile, the Deck is where the remainder of the cards are placed after dealing out the Stacks.  Play from the deck whenever you run out of moves, but be careful!  This pile will run out of cards, and you can only go through it once.

Decks – All decks of cards are the same on the front (4 suits of 13 cards, plus 2 jokers).  But they can have different backs with very different art.  Play with your favorite!  You earn new decks as you play, and there are premium decks available for purchase in the shop!

Energy – One unit of Energy is consumed with every deal of the cards.  Energy recharges at a steady rate, up to a maximum of 5.  Additional energy bought in the shop or received as gifts is stored in a separate bank, drawn from only when your regular energy is zero.  Your current energy level is indicated by a meter on the map.

Fish – Every time you see a Fish in the game, it means your Multiplier has increased.  It also adds to your total on the Fish Meter.  The meter on the map tells you how far along you are toward the next Level.

Free Gifts – Once per hour per friend, you can send Energy by clicking on their name on your Leaderboard.  In addition, you can click the Free Gifts button on the game's menu bar to send friends special treasures!

Key Card – Two cards randomly placed among the Stacks have ribbons on them, indicating that they are Key Cards.  Each key card will unlock an additional build pile for you to play on.

Leaderboard – The Leaderboard displays all of your friends who are playing the game, their highest score this week, and the card back they’re currently using.  Click on a friend’s name to send them a Free Gift!

Level – There’s no limit to the level you can achieve in Solitaire Blitz!  Leveling up adds three units of energy to your bank and gives you a new card back to play with, selected randomly from this month’s rotation.

Messages – If your friend sends you a gift or requests help, you will find it in your Messages.  If you have messages waiting, this screen will appear automatically at the start of the game.

Shop – You can buy EnergySilverBoosts and Decks in the Shop.  Some can be bought with Silver, but most use Facebook Credits.  The Shop offers many exclusive items that you won’t find anywhere else in the game.

Silver – Silver is the currency of Solitaire Blitz.  It lets you buy Boosts for your hand and can also be used to buy some items in the Shop.  Your current Silver balance is indicated by a meter on the map.

Stacks – The cards are dealt out into seven Stacks at the start of the game.  To clear each stack, you must move the cards onto the build piles.  Each stack conceals a treasure buried beneath.

Stopwatch – You have just 60 seconds to clear the cards from the Stacks, and the Stopwatch tracks your time.

Time Lines – There are four Time Lines in each hand, at depths of 1, 4, 7 and 10 cards.  When you clear all the cards above a Time Line, 20 seconds are added to the clock.

Treasure – Shells, crabs, jewelry, antiques, and many more mysterious things await you on the ocean floor, concealed by the stacks of cards.  If you clear all of the cards in a stack, you can pick up its Treasure.  The treasures are instantly converted to Silver.

How to play Zuma Blitz!

If you've never played Zuma Blitz, here's what you need to know to get started. First off, let's start with a little Zuma Blitz vocabulary:

Board (also called Curve):  This is the design and shape of the curve which defines the path the balls travel in the game. Each board can have interesting and unique challenges. You should try different strategies and Powers to see what works best!

There are a couple of key aspects to every board:

  • Tunnel - this is where new balls appear
  • Skull - balls will travel along the curve towards the Skull

Your game can end in two ways, whichever one happens first:

  1. Your time runs out or
  2. The balls reach the Skull

Time:  In Zuma Blitz, you only have 1 minute to score as many points as you can. When you reach level 2, you'll start to see Time balls appear on your curve. Each Time ball you match adds additional time to your game clock. You can use the Chrono Ball Powers to get even more time for each Time ball.  Check out Powers for more information.

Keep the balls from reaching the Skull by clearing as many balls as you can before time runs out!

Matching Balls: As balls roll out along the curve, you need to make a match to clear them off the board. You create a match by shooting the ball in your frog's mouth at a row of 2 or more balls that are the same color. Every match you make clears balls from your board.

Matches can have a cascading effect as well! If you shoot a single ball that causes multiple consecutive matches, that's called a Combo. You score extra points for Combos.

Check out the image below.

In this case, the current ball is yellow, and firing it in the direction shown by the red arrow will cause a match with the two yellow balls on the curve.

Once the yellow balls are cleared from the board, the red balls on either side will collapse together. As you can see, there are more than 3 red balls in a row, so the red balls will also be cleared off the board. Since your single shot caused more than 1 match (in this case two), you will also get a Combo bonus!

Swapping Balls:  The current ball is always the one in your frog's mouth. The next ball is shown on your frog's back. If you look at the example below, the current ball is yellow and the next ball is red.

Something you might find useful is to switch your current ball with the ball that's coming up next. This could help you clear balls faster and more efficiently.

To swap your current and next balls, you can either hit the [Spacebar] key or you can right-click your mouse (anywhere on the screen).

Multipliers:
Multipliers help you score more points for every match you make. There's a maximum of x9 multiplier, which means at most, every match will earn you 9 times the amount of points you would earn normally. To increase your multiplier, you need to match the special multiplier balls that come out on the curve. When you match a multiplier, any future matches will be scored based on that new multiplier.

Levels in Zuma Blitz

How do I increase my level?

You can unlock more Powers and bonuses by moving up levels (or "leveling up"). There are currently 80 levels in Zuma Blitz -- imagine all the cool powers you can unlock! You can check out all the different types of bonuses that get unlocked in the section below.

To move up to the next level, you need to  earn XP (experience points). You earn XP for every game you finish as long as you make at least 1 match. The amount of XP you earn depends on how many balls you clear, the more the better. Try using a Double XP potion to level up even faster!

To see how close you are to the next level, you can look at the progress bar. If you move your mouse over the progress bar, a tooltip will appear showing you exactly how much more XP you need to get to the next level.

What are the different level unlocks?

As you level up, you'll unlock better and cooler abilities in the game. You'll get free with every level up too! Here's a basic list of all the cool stuff that gets unlocked:

Critical Hit: At level 14, you unlock Critical Hit. This is an extra bonus that can occur with any match. When it happens, the points you score for that match are DOUBLED. As you level up, the probability of a Critical Hit occurring increases.
Fruit Upgrade: At level 6, fruit will appear in your game. Your first fruit has a base value of 3,000. Each subsequent Fruit Upgrade introduces a new type of fruit, which has a higher base value.
Life Heart: Everyone starts out with 5 Life Hearts. As you level up, you earn more hearts, which lets you play even more Zuma Blitz! You can eventually earn up to 9 Life Hearts by making your way up the levels.
Life Regen: Every time you play a game, you lose a Life Heart, but they regenerate over time. To start, you will regenerate one heart every 8 minutes. As you play more, your Life Hearts will regenerate faster. Keep leveling up to get your Life Regen time down to 6 minutes.
Mojo Upgrade: As you level up, you earn Mojo Upgrades, which substantially increase how much Mojo you earn each game.

Powers: As you reach higher levels, you will unlock not only different types of Powers, but stronger ones as well!  Powers will unlock for free by just leveling up. If you don't want to wait, you can unlock the first tier of each Power early by using either Idols or Facebook Credits. You can read all about each Power and when they unlock in the Powers section.

Spirit Animal Unlocks: At level 4, you unlock Spirit Animals! Every time you score at least 25,000 points in a game, you get a collectible Spirit Animal Token. You can see how many Spirit Animal Tokens you have earned by clicking on your name on the Leaderboard. You can also see how many tokens your friends have earned by clicking on their names on the Leaderboard.

Temple Unlocks: At level 5 you unlock the Temple. This is where all the action is! Inside the Temple are 9 different Powers. When the Temple opens, you get the Bombs Power and 1 Power Slot to use. Power Slots let you use Powers in your game. Keep on playing to unlock the other 2 Power Slots. If you don't want to wait, you can unlock the two Power Slots early by using either Idols or Facebook Credits

What are Monuments?

Discovering a monument

Once you have reached Level 15, when you start a game you may sometimes discover a monument to a Spirit Animal. This gives you the opportunity to play as that Spirit Animal with its super powers for that one game. Each monument may be priced differently and each Spirit Animal will have different powers.

In addition to its special power, every Spirit Animal gives you a Spirit Blast bonus at the end of your game. The Spirit Blast will blow up all the balls of a single color and give you bonus points. Different Spirit Animals will blow up a different color. You'll also score points from any combos that result after the Spirit Blast.

  Spirit Beetle:

Extra time - gives an additional 12 seconds to your game time. Your game clock will start at 1 minute and 12 seconds. Remember, the longer your game the more opportunity you'll have to make more matches and score big!

Red Spirit Blast - blows up all the red balls remaining on the board when time runs out. The bonus points you get from Spirit Blast vary depending on how many balls blow up and your final multiplier. It could really add up!

Spirit Cat:

Fireballs - gives a free fireball every 13 shots. No need to get Hot Frog (though it's still awesome) because now the more you shoot, the more fireballs you'll get. Keep shooting for more fireballs!

Blue Spirit Blast - blows up all the blue balls remaining on the board when time runs out. The bonus points you get from Spirit Blast vary depending on how many balls blow up and your final multiplier. It could really add up!

Spirit Weasel:

Cannon - If you are not using a Cannon powerup in your game, the Weasel will give you that powerup automatically!  If you already have the Cannon working for you, the Weasel will add an extra cannonball to increase your blast power!  During your Spirit Weasel game, you will also see the cannon come to life at a higher frequency, and all balls blasted with the cannon will score at a higher rate!

How do I get a higher score?

There are a number of ways to get a higher score. If you're ready for it, here are some tips and tricks on advanced game play.

Chain: Each consecutive match you make adds to the length of the Chain. Once your Chain reaches 6, you will start earning an extra 100+ points for every match you make until you break your Chain by failing to make a match. Clearing balls with a fireball or cannonball, and hitting fruit or Treasure Chests will not add to your Chain and also won't break your Chain. When you break your Chain by missing a shot, you will have to start rebuilding it again.

You can see how long your current Chain is in the panel to the right of the game (under your Hot Frog indicator). The screenshot to the left shows that the current Chain is 11 matches long.

Experiment with the Chain Blast Power to see how it can improve your score.

Curve Clear: When you clear away all the balls from either of the tunnels, you get Curve Clear bonus points. Clearing the curve later in the game earns you more points.

Experiment with different Powers that cause explosions (e.g. Bombs) to see how they can improve your score.

Every board (curve) has at least 2 places  where Fruit will appear, some might even have up to 4. When you hit a Fruit, the next Fruit you clear will be worth even more.

There are a variety of ways to clear a Fruit:

  • Shoot a ball of any color to hit it
  • Shoot a fireball at it when you have Hot Frog
  • Shoot a cannonball at it when you have Cannon
  • Cause an explosion (e.g. match a bomb or get a chain blast) close enough to the Fruit to explode it
You can see how many points you will get for the next Fruit in the panel to the right of the game (under your current Chain length indicator).

Experiment with the Fruit Master Power to see how it can improve your score.

Gap Shots:

As its name implies, a Gap Shot is when you fire a ball through a gap in the curve that results in a match in a line behind the gap. The smaller the gap you shoot through, the more points you'll score for that Gap Shot. For some boards where there are three lines of balls, you might even be able to get a double Gap Shot by shooting through 2 rows of gaps!

Experiment with different Powers that cause explosions (e.g. Bombs) to see how they can improve your score.

Hot Frog:

If each of your matches is made faster than the one before it, you will earn a Speed bonus, your frog will shoot faster, and you'll also make progress towards Hot Frog. Once you get Hot Frog, your frog will change and the next 3 shots (or more depending on whether you have Powers activated) will be fireballs. Fireballs will clear everything in their path, so they're great for reaching special balls or fruit that you can't reach otherwise.
You can see your progress towards Hot Frog in the panel to the right of the game. As you get closer to Hot Frog, you can also see your frog in game get "warm" (i.e. start turning red).

Experiment with the Inferno Frog Power to see how it can improve your score.

Multiplier:

A very effective way to get a higher score is to get as many multipliers as you can. Since multipliers increase your score for every subsequent match, the earlier you hit them, the sooner their reward takes effect.

Experiment with the Multiplier Power to see how it can improve your score.

Time:

Another factor that can greatly increase your score is extra time. The more Time Balls you can match the longer your game lasts, which gives you more opportunity to score points!

Experiment with the Chrono Balls Power to see how it can improve your score.

Powers in Zuma Blitz

Nothing makes you feel mightier than Powers in Zuma Blitz! To unlock Powers, you first have to reach Level 5. Once you do, the Temple of Powers will open to you and you can start playing with Powers and seeing your score skyrocket!

All that power doesn't come from air; it needs Mojo. Play lots to keep your Mojo flowing and your Powers armed!

Here are the Powers currently in the game:

Bombs:

This Power adds Bomb balls to your rollout. They come in all colors and you need to match them in groups of 3 or more like-colored balls to see their power. When you make a match with a Bomb ball included, it blows up and clears balls surrounding it.

There are three tiers of Bombs:

Bombs (Level 5) - Basic Bombs that explode when matched.
Tiki Bombs (Level 38) - Makes Bombs show up quicker on rollout.
Voodoo Bombs (Level 59) - Increases the blast radius for Bomb balls.

Cannon:

This Power adds cannonballs to your rollout. They come in all colors and you need to match them in groups of 3 or more like-colored balls to see their power. When you make a match with a cannonball included, it changes your frog into a Cannon Frog and your next shot will fire 3 cannonballs that will clear away anything in their path!

There are three tiers of Cannon:

Cannon (Level 16) - Cannonballs added to rollout. Match for triple shot!
Cannon King (Level 46) - Increases the frequency cannonballs come out in the rollout.
Super Cannon (Level 69) - Adds an additional cannonball to the Cannon (for a total of 4 cannonballs).

Chain Blast:

This Power causes explosions when you make consecutive matches (a chain). An explosion occurs on your 10th match and every 5 matches thereafter. If you break your chain by shooting a ball that doesn't make a match, you have to make another 10 matches to start your Chain Blast explosions.

There are 3 Tiers of Chain Blast:

Chain Blast (Level 27) - Causes an explosion to occur for a x10 chain (and every 5 thereafter).
Super Chain (Level 56) - Causes an explosion to occur for a x9 chain (and every 4 thereafter).
Mega Chain (Level 75) - Increases the size of the explosion for a x9 chain.

Chrono Balls:

This Power increases the extra time you get with each Time ball you match. They come in all colors and you need to match them in groups of 3 or more like-colored balls to see their power. When you make a match with a Time ball included, it adds more time to your game!

There are 3 Tiers of Chrono Balls:

Chrono Balls (Level 30) - Adds 1 second to Time balls for a total of 6 seconds.
Tempus Fugit (Level 66) - Adds 2 seconds to Time balls for a total of 7 seconds.
Timelord (Level 77) - Adds 3 seconds to Time balls for a total of 8 seconds.

Fruit Master:

This Power makes Fruit appear more often in your game. The more Fruit you hit, the more points each one of them is worth! There are 3 Tiers of Fruit Master which increases how often Fruit appears (time is on average):

Fruit Master (Level 23) - Increases how often Fruit appears by 3 seconds.
Juicy Fruit (Level 53) - Increases how often Fruit appears by 5 seconds.
Epic Fruit (Level 62) - Increases how often Fruit appears by 7 seconds.

Inferno Frog:

This Power makes your Hot Frog even hotter! If you have this Power active, when you get Hot Frog, you'll shoot more than 3 fireballs!

There are 2 Tiers of Inferno Frog:

Inferno Frog (Level 19) - Gives Hot Frog 1 extra fireball shot (for a total of 4 shots).
Sun Frog (Level 50) - Gives Hot Frog 2 extra fireball shots (for a total of 5 shots).

Last Hurrah:

This Power explodes every special ball left on the board when time runs out. You'll score the points for all of them as a Last Hurrah bonus!

There are 2 Tiers of Last Hurrah:

Last Hurrah (Level 7) - Explodes special balls at the end of a game for extra points.
Mega Hurrah (Level 41) - Explodes special balls at the end of a game for DOUBLE the points of Last Hurrah.

Multiplier:

This Power increases your starting multiplier. The points you score for every match are increased by your current multiplier! Match more multipliers as you play so you can earn even more points. There's a maximum of x9 multiplier, so get them early to score big!

There are 2 Tiers of Multiplier:

Multiplier (Level 34) - Starts your game with a x2 Multiplier.
  Multi-Multiplier (Level 79) - Starts your game with a x3 Multiplier.

Speed Ball:

This Power makes your frog shoot faster! It'll come in handy when you need to squeeze a ball through a gap or fire off balls quickly.

There are 3 Tiers of Speed Ball:

Speed Ball (Level 10) - Increases how fast your frog shoots by 10%.
Super Speed Ball (Level 44) - Increases how fast your frog shoots by 20%.
Warp Ball (Level 73) - Increases how fast your frog shoots by 30%.

As a Master, you can show off just how awesome you really are with a snazzy new frame around your profile picture. All of your friends will see your Zuma Blitz prowess on their leaderboard. After all, what's the point of becoming a Zuma Blitz Master if you can't brag about it?

But to get this greatness, you'll have to sacrifice all of the powers and bonuses you've earned up to this point!

Mastery is not for the weak though and is only available when you've reached the maximum level. You can earn even higher degrees of Mastery by completing all of the levels multiple times!

Below are the details of what you get to keep and what you'll be sacrificing...

You will keep the following...

  • Mojo
  • Idols
  • Current Score
  • Spirit Animals and their rankings
  • Powers and bonuses that you paid to unlock early (either with Idols or Facebook Credits), will still be available, including:
    • Power slots
    • Powers
    • Treasure chest slots

Remember, you'll be starting from level 1, so these won't be available immediately.

You will sacrifice the following...

  • Your XP will be reset to 0.
  • Your level will be reset to 1.
  • Any powers and bonuses that you earned by leveling up will be gone (e.g. Life). For a complete list of the types of unlocks, check out the Levels FAQ.

What are Coconuts?

Coconuts are the first of many fruits to come! When you eat a coconut, you'll get a Heart back. Fruits like coconuts are a way for you to store extra Life so you can use them when your normal Hearts run out.

How do you get coconuts?

You can get coconuts in one of two ways:

  1. Shake your coconut tree 5 times
  2. Redeem a coconut from the wall of one of your friends

Shake your coconut tree

You have to be at least Level 10 in order to shake your coconut tree. Once you reach Level 10, click on the "Coconuts" button to bring up your coconut tree.

It takes energy to shake a tree, so you will need Hearts to shake. Once you've shaken your coconut tree 5 times, a coconut will drop off the tree! You should only shake the coconut tree if you are done playing and have Hearts you don't plan on using. Keep in mind that your Hearts regenerate for free over time, so you will always get more.

Tips on when to shake your tree

Here are the best times to shake your tree to get the most out of it!

  • Even if you don't plan on playing at all, log in to shake the tree. Your Hearts will regenerate for free so don't waste them, bank them!
  • If you are done playing and have Hearts left over, use your extra Hearts to shake
  • If you think you will level up in your next game, shake the tree until you have just 1 Heart left. Then play a game to level up. After you level up, you'll get a full life refill so you may as well use up the Hearts you have! Remember to leave yourself 1 Heart to play so you can level up.

Redeem a coconut from a wall

Sometimes when you harvest a coconut from shaking your tree, a bunch of coconuts will fall off. You can share the extra coconuts with your friends by posting it on your wall. If you visit your friends' walls, they might have coconuts to share back with you. You can get a coconut off of each wall post you click on!

How do you eat coconuts?

You can eat coconuts at any time, unless you're already full of Hearts. You can see how many coconuts you have in the coconut inventory counter next to the "Coconuts" button.

To eat a coconut, you can click on your inventory counter or on the "Coconuts" button. Click on the "Eat" sign in your coconut basket. You will be asked to confirm eating your coconut or saving it for later. Click "Eat" to consume your coconut and get 1 Heart back.

New fruits will be coming soon!

Where do my game posts show up on my Timeline?

The new Facebook Timeline feature has changed the order in which your activities appear on your profile page.  There are many factors that affect your game activity posts and who can view them.

App Permissions Settings

When you first start playing a game on Facebook, you must allow it certain permissions. One of those permissions is "Post on my behalf."  Please note that "Post on your behalf" does not mean the game will post without your permission!   When you click "Share" on a high score or achievement, the game needs to have permission to complete that action of sharing on your behalf.

Click on "Edit settings" beside the app to make sure that "Post on my behalf" is listed as a permission you have allowed for the game.  Next, you'll want to make sure you have not set the app's posts to be hidden from people you want to see them.

Lower in the "Edit settings" menu is a header called "Posts on my behalf:" where you will see a drop-down menu with groups of friends listed.  You can choose to allow the game's posts to be viewed by anyone (Public), by Friends, by Friend Groups you pre-define (such as creating a group of your friends who also play the game!), or by "Only Me."  If you have at any point set your Posts to be visible to only a certain group/only yourself, that may be keeping you or your friends from seeing your Posts appear.

News Feed View

At the top of your News Feed, you have a "Sort:" option.  You can set your News Feed to sort by "Top Stories" or "Most Recent."  If you've got it set to sort by "Top Stories," which is the default, then you won't see game/app posts coming up much, because those are rarely considered top stories by Facebook.  Sorting by Most Recent will show you the latest activity without preferential treatment assigned based on number of likes or comments, etc.

Where to Look on Your Timeline

Even with your settings and permissions properly configured, you may not know where your game posts are being displayed on Timeline, because they are also not being treated as "Top Stories" on that page.  However, any game activity you chose to post should be visible on Timeline.  Since Timeline attempts to prioritize your posts and activities rather than displaying them strictly chronologically, app posts will fall lower down on the page than things like status updates, tagged photos, or messages from friends.

Scroll down your Timeline, and you will find that below the "widgets" such as your Friends list, recent Likes, game Achievements, etc., you will start to see your app posts.  They may be aggregated by app title, so you may see several recent High Score posts gathered into a bundle that can be expanded to view in full.

For more information on Facebook's Timeline feature, you may want to review the FAQs at http://www.facebook.com/help/.

I'm having trouble trying to play a free online game on PopCap.com.

Please refer to the troubleshooting tips below for some basic steps that should resolve most issues with our free online games.

Several of our free online games currently work only in Internet Explorer due to the need for an ActiveX control incompatible with other browsers.  Most games work in multiple browsers but will still exhibit better performance in some than others.  If you are having difficulty with your online game performance, we strongly recommend trying alternate browsers.

In order to play the free online games, certain components need to be installed and activated on a computer through its browser. Depending on your computer, the browser you are using, and which games you are trying to play, you may need to install/enable ActiveX or update Flash or Java. If the necessary add-ons are not installed through the computer's Internet browser, our free online games will not operate properly. Please refer to your computer's help articles or your browser's help articles for further help installing and activating these components.

Other possible issues that could cause blocking of our Online games may be firewalls and virus scanners. We recommend you add our site to your list of "Safe" or "Trusted" Sites for your browser, firewall and virus scanners. Please refer to your software's help articles regarding adding safe/trusted sites.

Further instructions on resolving online games issues:

1. Clear your Internet cache.

Clearing your Internet browser cache/cookies can fix many common issues with pages failing to load. Some browser components may need to have their cache cleared as well. We have provided steps for most common browsers here.

We recommend that you also clear the Java cache and temporary Internet files.

Many Internet games and tools use Java to operate. Often, clearing the cache for Java will resolve numerous issues. In order to delete the Java cache, which is different from the browser cache, please follow the steps below.

  1. Click Start.
  2. Select Control Panel.
  3. Double click and open Java.
  4. Select the General tab.
  5. Under Temporary Internet Files, select Settings.
  6. On the window that opens, click Delete Files.
  7. Make sure all boxes are selected, and click OK.

Restarting your computer after following the above steps can also help the performance of the game.

2. Update Flash.

You may need to install or update to the latest version of Adobe Flashplayer.

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

If you need assistance installing the latest version of flash, you may find instructions on the page:

http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/productinfo/instructions/

3. Installing our ActiveX [PopCap Games Loader].

If you are having trouble playing the free online versions of Bookworm Adventures, Chuzzle, Hammer Heads, Insaniquarium, or Peggle, you may not have our ActiveX control installed/enabled.  Please note, at this time, these games can only be played in Internet Explorer due to the need for the ActiveX component.  When you go to play the game, you may be prompted with a screen that will walk you through step by step on how to install our ActiveX.

If you do not receive the steps to install our ActiveX, you have another option. You should see a yellow drop down box appear near the top of the window asking if you would like to install the PopCap Games Loader, please click this box and select 'Install ActiveX Control'.

Once you have installed our latest ActiveX, your game should begin!  If not, try refreshing the page or closing and relaunching your browser.

4. Enable Java.

Java may need to be enabled in your browser options.

Internet Explorer

  1. Under Tools, select Internet Options.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Set your security level to Medium or lower.
  4. If you have chosen to customize your security settings for the Internet zone, be sure that under the Java heading, "Java permissions" is not set to "Disable Java." Select one of the three safety levels instead. Also be sure that under the Scripting heading, "Scripting of Java Applets" is set to "Enable" or "Prompt".

Google Chrome

  1. Click on the little wrench icon to open the Tools menu.
  2. Click on Under the Hood.
  3. Click the button labelled "Content Settings" in the Privacy section.
  4. In the JavaScript section, "Allow all sites to run JavaScript (recommended)" should be selected.

The game is running slowly or is non-responsive. I want to go fast!

Okay, Speed Racer, you'll want to check on a couple of things that might help:

  • If you have other applications running at the same time as Blitz, try closing some of them. You could be stressing out your processor and slowing things down.
  • Try using a different browser or updating to the latest, fanciest version of your current browser.

If you're running Firefox 3 and you're pretty savvy, you can adjust how often Firefox takes a snapshot of your open tabs. This feature lets you open Firefox where you left it off when you close your browser. If Firefox doesn't take snapshots as often, you'll get better performance in your game.

To adjust the frequency of the snapshots or turn the snapshot feature off, try these steps:

  1. Type about:config in the location bar in a Firefox browser
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise!
  3. Type browser.sessionstore.interval in the Filter box
  4. Double-click on the browser.sessionstore.interval preference
  5. Enter how often you want Firefox to take a snapshot (in milliseconds). For example, 120000 is 2 minutes
  6. Click OK

(This is a pretty advanced setting, so you should only change this if you feel comfortable doing so.)

Lucky Gem Casino Glossary

As casino slots are a very popular phenomenon in the world at large, it's likely many players will already be abundantly familiar with all the terms you will encounter in Lucky Gem Casino. But those of you who, like me, are new to this style of game might be a little confused by words like "Scatter" and "reels."  The glossary of basic slots terms below should help get you acclimated to this other world of games!

Auto Free Spin: When you have Free Spins to play, you can choose between playing them one at a time by clicking on the Free Spin button or initiating an auto-play of the entire set of Free Spins in a row by clicking the Auto Free Spin button.  Not all slots offer an Auto Free Spin.  There is no way to pause an Auto Free Spin session once it has begun.

Bet Max: To automatically choose the maximum number of winlines for your next spin, you can click the Bet Max button.  Once you have chosen a number of winlines, it will remain in play until you choose differently or level up.  Levelling up resets you to a single winline.  The Bet Max button only affects your number of winlines, not your coinsize.  The Bet Max button also triggers a spin automatically when pressed.

Bonus Round: Most slots offer a special Bonus Round game that can be triggered by three or more Bonus Round symbols appearing on the reels.  The rules and gameplay are specific to each game, so see the in-game help section for details.

Coinsize: You select your Coinsize to determine the amount you will wager on each spin.  Once you have selected your Coinsize, it will remain at that level for all spins until you change it, move to a different slot, or reload the game for a new session.  Different slots have varying default coinsizes, so you may wish to check both the Coinsize and the number of winlines you are playing each time you move between slots.  Keep in mind that the coinsize is the number of coins you are wagering per line, per spin.  For example if you have selected 20 lines to bet at a coinsize of 1, you will be betting 20 coins per spin.  The maximum coinsize you can wager will increase as you level up.

Free Spin: Each slot offers a Free Spin bonus opportunity.  Three or more Free Spins symbols on the reels (specific rules may vary by game) trigger a Free Spin bonus.  Once you have received your Free Spins, you may have the option to play them one at a time or all in a row with the Auto Free Spin button.  Some slots offer special bonuses within the Free Spins!  Check each game’s individual rules or Paytable to learn more.

Paytable: On each slot, you will find a Paytable button.  Click to display the payouts associated with each symbol that can appear within the reels.  The Paytable screens also provide basic instructions for bonus rounds and free spins.

Reels: While lines are defined as left to right, reels are vertical, running top to bottom.  The slots all use five reels to spin.

Scatter: Scatter symbols are a very special bonus opportunity for extra coin payouts!  Unlike all other paying symbols, Scatters do not need to appear on winlines but can be scattered across the reels in any position.  This also means they are only matched to themselves and cannot be substituted with Wilds of any kind.  When you win with a Scatter combo, you have truly hit a jackpot!

Wild: A Wild symbol can be substituted for any standard payout symbol to complete a line.  Wilds cannot be substituted for any special symbols such as Bonus Round, Free Spin, or Scatter.

Winlines: Moving from left to right across the reels, winlines determine your payout.  When you win, the winline(s) will be highlighted to show you which combination of symbols paid out and how much.  Before you spin, you can always hover over a winline number along the right or left side of the reels to display a colored line showing the path that winline will travel.
