Can I save my game progress for my iOS game? What about resetting it to a previous saved state?

It is possible to save your progress in a game by syncing your device with your computer through iTunes.  

To restore a previously saved state for your apps, connect your device, and open iTunes.  Right-click the device's name, and select Restore from backup

Basic Troubleshooting for iOS Games

If your game is crashing on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, try the steps below:

  • Restart your device.  

    Your iOS device is a computer, and just like any computer, it sometimes needs to be turned off and on.  This simple step will resolve many issues!  To power down, press and hold the Power button until the red slider bar appears on the screen. Then drag the slider to confirm you want to turn your device off.  Wait a moment before you press and hold the Power button again to turn it back on.
     
  • Reset your device.

    Press and hold the Power button and the Home button at the same time, holding for more than 10 seconds.  Don't release until the Apple logo appears.
     
  • Uninstall and reinstall the game.

    Just like your device is a computer, your app is a piece of software, so the same basic steps can be useful.  "Uninstall and reinstall" is a simple troubleshooting measure.

    You can uninstall an app by pressing and holding the app icon until it wiggles, then tap the "x" on it.  Reinstalling is as simple as reconnecting through iTunes!

    Of course, uninstalling the app will result in the loss of all game progress and user profiles created.  It is possible to back up the data through iTunes so that you can restore it.  To restore a previously saved state for your apps, connect your device, and open iTunes.  Right-click the device's name, and select "Restore from backup."

How do I update my PopCap game on my iOS device?

If you wish to update your PopCap game on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch, and an update is available, you can follow either of these sets of steps:

On your device:

  • Go to your home screen
  • Select AppStore
  • Select Updates
  • If the update is available, select the PopCap App to update, or allow all to update (you may have multiple updates available for other Apps)
  • Enter your iTunes password and click OK
  • Select Free
  • Select Install
  • Allow the game to update!

On iTunes

  • Connect the device to your computer with the USB cable
  • Open and log on to your iTunes software
  • Under Library select Applications
  • At the bottom of the screen click on X Updates Available
  • On the My App Updates screen you can download the updates independently, or you can click Download All Free Updates
  • On the left hand column, select [your device name]
  • On the tabs that are available, select Applications
  • Check the box next to your PopCap game
  • On the top menu bar in iTunes click File
  • Then select Sync [your device name]
  • Allow the device to fully sync before correctly disconnecting it from your computer

I purchased Bejeweled 2+Blitz but have since deleted it. Can I reinstall it?

Although Bejeweled 2+Blitz has now been removed from iTunes and the App Store, you should still be able to redownload it to your device if it is in your purchase history.  If you have removed the game from your device but wish to reinstall, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the App Store on your device
  2. Click on the "Purchased" tab
  3. Your full list of Apps should include Bejeweled 2+Blitz.  Tap the cloud icon to download it back to your device.

I can't "Solve the Equation" in Escape Rosecliff Island!

Having trouble with the "Solve the Equation" part of Level 5 in Escape Rosecliff Island?  This is a common area of confusion caused by the way our minds process equations versus the order in which hidden object games want us to choose items.  We look at "4+6=" and know the answer is "10," and we want to click on the components in that order.

The game, however, considers that the "10" is the missing piece in the mostly complete expression of the equation!  If you click on "10" first, then click on "4+6=" to place the "10" where it belongs, you will complete the step!

I've got a black screen on Plants vs Zombies but I can hear the music playing.

If you can hear Plants vs. Zombies on your iPad but not see the game, the simple steps below should help: 

  1. Hold down the HOME button on your iPad to view the running applications
  2. Close all running applications by tapping and holding down the icons one at a time, then tapping the "-" sign on left corner of the app when they start to "wiggle" 
  3. Launch the game again and you should be able to play!
